Set list 6.21

17 06 2009

Here at the church, we’ve moved to 2 services for the summer.  In past years we’ve found that it’s better to do it this way rather than trying to make all 3 services work AND with going to just 2 services – it gives all the volunteers and staff a little bit of a break.

In September we started a 3rd serviced called The EDGE.  It’s a worship experience for the next generation.  This service is an exciting alternative to the services that we already have in place.  It’s a little bit louder, there are lights, fog, and the music is new and cutting edge.

The services that we offer in the 9 and 10:45 services in our Worship Center are a little more “toned down”.  The music is still contemporary yet familiar, the volume is softer and the “show” isn’t as noticeable.  When we decided to make the move to 2 services – we gave people the option to attend the 9:00 in the Worship Center…or The EDGE in The Gym.

This past Sunday was the first weekend of the change and it was exciting to see how many people decided to give The EDGE a try.  We were blown away and we’re hoping that people continue to come.  So…that’s just an update about the life of our church.

So…here’s the set list that we’re doing this weekend!

God Is Great – Hillsong United (B)
O Praise Him – David Crowder*Band (A)
All We Need – Charlie Hall (G)
Give Us Clean Hands – Chris Tomlin (G)
Shelter – Ignite (G)
Everlasting God – New Life Worship (G)

If you’re looking for a church body to worship with this weekend – try Celebration Church.  We’re located on the hill at I-70 and the 183 by-pass.

Have an awesome day.

Taking some time off

16 02 2009

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that I (Kael) will be taking some time off from blogging, facebook, and twitter – and everything else that’s come between God and me.  You can check out http://kaelbloom.wordpress.com/2009/02/16/taking-a-break/ for all the details.  But I just wanted to let you all know.

I’ve asked Derek and Josh to kinda take over this blog – but they are pretty busy guys.  But hopefully they will find sometime to update this every once in a while.

Thanks!

Be Impressed, Not Impressive

16 01 2009

Too often we think that if we can impress others, we will gain influence with them.  We want to become other’s heroes – to be larger than life.  That creates a problem because we’re real live human beings.  People can see us for who we really are.  If we make it our goal to impress them, we puff up our pride and end up being pretentious – and that turns people off.

If you want influence others, don’t try to impress them.  Pride is really nothing more than a form of selfishness, and pretense is always a way to keep people at arm’s length so that they can’t see who you really are.  Instead of impressing others, let them impress you.

It’s really a matter of attitude.  The people with charisma, those who attract others to themselves, are individuals who focus on others, not themselves.  They ask questions of others.  They listen.  They don’t try to e the center of attention.  And they never try to pretend they’re perfect.

Point Out Other People’s Strenghts

8 01 2009

People often make a mistake in their personal development whey they focus too much on their weaknesses. As a result, they spend all their time trying to shore up those weaknesses instead of maximizing the strengths they possess. Similarly, it’s a mistake to focus on the weaknesses of others. The self-proclaimed “experts” who spend their time telling others what’s wrong with them neber win with people. Most people simply avoid them.

Instead, we need to focus on finding people’s strengths and pointing them out. Most people have strenghts that they rarely get to use. Those strengths may be job skills, knowledge, general abilities, personality characteristics, or other attributes. I once read an interested fact based on research, saying that every person can do at least one thing better than ten thousand other people. THINK ABOUT THAT! You possess an ability that can’t be matched by anyone in your town or neighborhood…or in your college or university…or in your company or maybe even in your industry.

Have you discovere that ability? Is so, you are probably well on your way to pursuing your life’s purpose. If you haven’t, wouldn’t you love it if someone came alongside you and pointed it out? How would you feel about that person? I bet you’d be pretty grateful.

Why not try to become that kind of person in someone else’s life? When you do, you just might be helping others to discover the thing God created them to do.

Verse of the year

8 01 2009

Each year at Celebration Community Church – we encourage and challenge everyone to find their verse of the year.  And I’m a firm believer that if we ask our church body to do something, then the staff should be the first to do it.

So…I want to share my verse with you:

Who believes what we’ve heard and seen? Who would have thought God’s saving power would look like this?
The servant grew up before God—a scrawny seedling,
a scrubby plant in a parched field.
There was nothing attractive about him,
nothing to cause us to take a second look.
He was looked down on and passed over,
a man who suffered, who knew pain firsthand.
One look at him and people turned away.
We looked down on him, thought he was scum.
But the fact is, it was our pains he carried—
our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us.
We thought he brought it on himself,
that God was punishing him for his own failures.
But it was our sins that did that to him,
that ripped and tore and crushed him—our sins!
He took the punishment, and that made us whole.
Through his bruises we get healed.

 - Isaiah 53:1-5 (The Message)

This verse has special meaning to me because, as some of you may or may not know, my dad has been diagnosed with ALS disease – but I believe that God is bigger than ALS and I’m believing that God is going to heal my dad.  But the cool thing about this verse is that the “healing” isn’t confined to the physical body.  It is talking about every area of life – finaces, family, emtions, physical bodies – every area of life.

Healing is going to be my anthem and prayer for the year of 2009 and I can’t wait to see what God is going to do!

I look forward to hearing your verse of the year!

Verse(s) of the week

3 12 2008

Hi friends!

Here is this week’s verse(s) of the week.  This week’s verse comes from Romans 8:35-39 – what a promise we have from God!

(35)Who shall seperate us from the love of Christ?  Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?  (36) As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” (37) No, in all things we are more than conquerors through him who loves us.  (38) For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, (39) neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to sperate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Amen!

Verse of the week

25 11 2008

Good evening everyone,

This week’s verse came from today’s Staff Meeting at Celebration Community Church.  It comes from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – and when you look at this verse, take some time and think about what this is saying and take a moment to do some self-evaluation.  It really opened my eyes to what I can do to be more like Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Be joyful always;
pray continually (without ceasing);
give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus
